Crafted entirely from clear and colored cast acrylic. Features black and smoky inlaid triangles with matching game chips and die cups. Inlay is sandwiched between layers of clear acrylic for a smooth playing surface and enhanced visual depth of the game board.
Ever since I began working with acrylic I have dreamt of making an inlaid backgammon game that would bring together great design with great game play. Backgammon is an obsession in my family. It is the first board game I learned to play as a child. It is the first board game my children learned. It is the first game to come out at family gatherings and the last to be set aside.
In order to preserve the beauty and clarity of the acrylic I use no glues or adhesives in making the game. It is entirely friction joined. This is challenging as cast acrylic varies up to 15% in thickness. I cut pieces for and build each game progressively to ensure each component fits together securely.
